- Abstract
The article offers information on a study which examined the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) in reducing the incidence and severity of ischemic stroke. A review of the related literature is offered. Identified ndependent predictors of in-hospital mortality among patients with ischemic stroke include diabetes mellitus, renal impairment and heart failure. Findings suggest that knowledge of in-hospital mortality predictors is needed to improve survival rate following acute stroke.
