- Title
PATHOLOGY CLINIC. Hyalinizing trabecular adenoma of the thyroid gland.
- Authors
Thompson, Lester D. R.
- Abstract
The article features hyalinizing trabecular adenoma (HTA), a very rare tumor, often benign, of thyroid follicular cell origin with a trabecular pattern of growth and marked intratrabecular hyalinization. HTA is found incidentally during a routine physical exam in predominantly female patients with a mean age of 50 years. Zonation, with greater deposition at the periphery of the trabeculae, is seen in hyalinization. In almost all cases, complete excision or lobectomy is the cure.
