- Abstract
The article investigates the role of the Duffy-negative phenotype in pediatric sickle cell populations, specifically examining the variations in absolute neutrophil count (ANC) among Duffy-negative children with and without sickle cell disease (SCD). The study suggests that Duffy-negative children with SCD exhibit elevated white blood cell counts, challenging previous findings and emphasizing the need for further research on the physiological relevance of Duffy expression in SCD patients.
