- Abstract
The article presents a study on the predictive capability of emotional health in changes to body mass index (BMI-z) among Latino and African American youths. Topics include the complex factors that constitute childhood obesity, its link to intra-and interpersonal psychological, social, and emotional issues and poor mental health. The results show that the presence of frequent negative emotional symptoms like sadness and feeling nervous increase youths' risk for weight gain.
