- Abstract
This document summarizes a study on aquagenic pruritus (AP), a condition where individuals experience itchiness after water exposure. The study found that AP primarily affects the extremities and can be accompanied by pain. Only a small number of patients also had polycythemia vera. The study explored the use of beta-alanine as a treatment for AP, with some patients reporting positive effects. However, more research is needed to understand how beta-alanine works and its clinical benefits. The study acknowledges its limitations and suggests further research to determine the appropriate dosage and method of using beta-alanine in a controlled setting.
