The article discusses the clinical relevance of urine-specific gravity (USG). Topics discussed include the interpretation of the results of urinalysis, the measurement of USG through refractometry or reagent test strips, and the significance of USG in other assessments of physiology. Also discussed are factors that affect USG which include hydration, routine medicine and healthcare conditions such as diabetes.
