- Abstract
Objective: This article reports the unusual case of a dog affected by three distinct neoplasms and aims to contribute to the literature in veterinary medicine, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, effective therapeutic approaches and prognosis in complex cases of multiple neoplasms in companion animals. Methodology: The present work reports the case of a male dog, SRD, approximately 6 years old, rescued with a neoformation in the 2nd and 3rd digits of the right pelvic limb, a nodule in the right inguinal region and another in the scrotum. In the chest x-ray and abdominal ultrasound imaging tests requested for tumor staging, the presence of two splenic nodules and one pulmonary nodule was also observed, in addition to projectiles in the subcutaneous tissue. In fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of digit neoplasm, plasmacytoma was suggested, thus being referred for surgery followed by electrochemotherapy in bed. Results: The histopathological report concluded that it was plasmacytoma, hemangiosarcoma and soft tissue sarcoma in the respective regions mentioned above. Conclusion: Most plasmacytomas are benign and surgical excision is generally curative, unlike hemangiosarcoma and soft tissue sarcoma, which are malignant neoplasms with high infiltrative, metastatic and recurrent power, thus resulting in a reserved to unfavorable prognosis in affected animals.. Periodic clinical/oncological monitoring is recommended.
