- Abstract
The article discusses the ultrasound-guided vascular access procedure using needle visualization with short or long axis approach. The author says the difficulty of using the long-axis approach is how to keep the needle in the same place as the ultrasound beam. He describes the technique of using a linear transducer to ensure the success of placing the needle in plane with the ultrasound beam. Another variation of the technique for short-axis approach is mentioned.
