- Title
SCIENCE EDUCATION IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS OF SIERRA LEONE, WEST AFRICA.
- Authors
Sawyerr, Ebun S.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the state of secondary science education in Sierra Leone. This country is the first part of the West African region to have contacts with the Europeans and this goes as far back as the 1800's. Thus, the country's educational standards have always been better than those in the other countries. The study has revealed that the old school by definition is better qualified and is producing better results in the field based on teaching methods. One of the reasons for the lack of science teachers is its low prestige compared with other jobs requiring similar qualifications.
