- Abstract
This article focuses on microscopic damage in epoxy-based composites using flexible interphase. Interface properties affect mechanical properties of fiber reinforced plastics. The interface between fiber and matrix is not a two dimensional plane but is a three dimensional region with finite depth perpendicular to the interface. The interphase gives additional properties to the composites, such as impact properties and vibration properties and can be created sometimes in a controlled fashion. Static tensile tests were conducted to clarify the effect of the interphase properties on microscopic damage behavior in the laminated composites.
