- Abstract
The article focuses on a set of experiments, which were designed to explore the crystallographic texture of the gold at several stages of the manufacturing process. Electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) experiments were carried out using an Oxford Instruments LinkOPAL EBSDsystem on a LEO Stereoscan S440 SEM. It has been suggested that understanding how the processing of gold bonding wires affects texture can enable better microstructural engineering of the wire properties for performance improvements. Texture measurement with EBSD is able to detect subtle differences.
