- Title
THE COMEDY OF ERRORS AND FREDERICK OF JENNEN.
- Authors
Warren, Roger
- Abstract
The article presents information on Dromio of Syracuse in "The Comedy of Errors," is describing the kitchen maid's mysterious familiarity with his body, he refers to "the great wart on the left arm." It suggests that Shakespeare was familiar with Frederick of Jennen long before writing Cymbeline; and since Robert Laneham's account of Leicester's entertainment for Queen Elizabeth at Kenilworth Castle in 1575 mentions that one Captain Cox of Coventry had a wide repertory of stories including "Frederick of Gene," it may have enjoyed popularity in the Warwickshire of William Shakespeare's youth.
