- Abstract
The article discusses the "Consultation Paper on the Renewal of Labour Legislation," release by Saskatchewan's Premier Brad Wall making him a cut from a different cloth than his predecessor Canadian's father of Medicare Tommy Douglas. The paper reportedly hinted at making Saskatchewan the first Province to enact the right-to-work legislation and declare legislative nuclear combat on labor unions. It is stated that Saskatchewan Federation of Labour leaned on Canada Charter of rights and Freedoms' protection of the rights of workers to bargain collectively in its response to the consultation paper. In order to fight attacks that they have seen coming, Communication, Energy and Paperworks Union of Canada and Canadian Auto Workers have merged to become Canada's largest private sector union.
