- Abstract
Os diagnósticos para as doenças respiratórias são um desafio na medicina equina, pois dependem de exame clínico minucioso apoiado por exames complementares como a endoscopia, citologia de lavado traqueal e lavado broncoalveolar (LBA) ou coleta para cultura microbiológica. Esses são métodos invasivos e normalmente necessitam de sedação do animal, interferindo na rotina, muitas vezes reduzindo o interesse dos proprietários, limitando o diagnóstico e dificultando tratamentos assertivos. Isso também leva ao uso indevido de medicamentos. A coleta do condensado do exalado respiratório (CER) é uma técnica de obtenção de amostra das vias aéreas de forma não invasiva, sem necessidade de sedação, podendo ser empregada para a análise laboratorial de diversos biomarcadores. O presente trabalho objetiva descrever um equipamento portátil para a coleta de CER de cavalos, resultado de uma parceria multidisciplinar em uma instituição de ensino e pesquisa brasileira, com patente concedida em 2021, sob o registro PI 1101165-3 (Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial, 2021). O presente equipamento foi desenvolvido de acordo com a formação de um dispositivo condensador em estrutura própria e específica do tipo não invasiva, objetivando a obtenção de diagnósticos através da análise laboratorial, por estudantes do curso de Desenho Industrial da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR) em parceria com o curso de Medicina Veterinária. O equipamento recebeu os prêmios internacionais de design Core Design Awards em 2011 e IF Concept Design Award 2012, ambos como melhores produtos na categoria estudantes. No presente estudo piloto, investigou-se a ureia, nitritos e proteínas do sangue, LBA e CER, conseguindo, nesta ordem, os seguintes valores (média ± desvio padrão): ureia (4,7 ± 3,2 mg/dL), nitritos (58,2 ± 98,2 nmoL/mL) e proteínas (0,2 ± 0,2 mg/uL). Conclui-se que o equipamento coletor de CER PI 1101165-3 é uma possibilidade potencial para integrar os diagnósticos de doenças respiratórias dos cavalos, não invasivo, mas necessitando-se de estudos para a sua validação nas diferentes situações clínicas.
