- Abstract
Blueberry is a water-stress sensitive crop, so it is essential to monitor the soil moisture content throughout its growing cycle. The objective of this work was to build water retention models under field conditions in different sectors of a plot grown with blueberries. Volumetric humidity was estimated with a time domain reflectometry (TDR) probe, and the matric potential with tensiometers. Measurements were carried out in a plot planted with blueberries on a typical Argiudol soil with an inclined slope, characteristic of the hill geomorphological unit of the Pampean region, in which two sectors with different soil textures at root depth were identified, a loam in the lowest sector, and a clay-loam in the highest. The relationship between the matric potential and the soil moisture content showed a linear behavior within the range of potentials assessed, with different water retention models having been generated for each sector of the plot. It was shown that the tensiometers had greater precision in the loam texture sector.
