- Abstract
The article focuses on a study done to test the dental equipment Pulp Tester, manufactured by Analytic Technology Corp. in the U.S., to determine its electrical characteristics and the effectiveness in determining vitality and non-vitality of the dental pulp. It offers information on the general characteristics of the Tester, and describes the methodology used to determine various electrical characteristics such as switch-on characteristics, the output voltage and wave patterns, and output impedance. According to the study, the Tester's clinical accuracy of diagnosis was 99% with teeth with vital pulp and 100% with teeth with non-vital pulp, and the Tester proved to be easier to operate because of the automatic control of the electric power switch and the adjustment of output voltage.
