- Abstract
The article presents a report on connubial contact sensitization to clotrimazole. Clotrimazole is an imidazole antirnycotic. Imidazole derivatives are widely used broad-spectrum antifungal agents. Imidazoles penetrate the skin well, due to their lipophilic character, and affect cell membrane sterol synthesis. Compared to their large number of prescriptions throughout the world, contact allergy to them is rare. Miconazole seems to be the most frequently reported: only three reports of clorimazole allergy were found.
