- Abstract
The article analyzes the research of five houses designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright in Los Angeles between 1919 and 1925. It examines the interrelationships between Wright, his son Lloyd Wright, Irving Gill, Rudolph Schindler, and Walter and Marion Griffin. The text offers an important documentary contribution based on research by other authors and Wright's archives. The importance of the Hollyhock House as the culmination of the Prairie style and its influence from Viennese modernism, as well as the Millard, Storer, Freeman, and Ennis houses, are highlighted. The different historical interpretations and attributions of Wright's buildings are also examined, as well as the external influences on his work. Finally, the influence of Gill and Schindler on Wright's architecture and the resurgence of modernism in 1923 are analyzed.
