- Abstract
The article focuses the research works being conducted to increase the agricultural output and solve the problem of food shortage. It reports that the research works are being conducted by several private foundations, governments and agencies of the United Nations. It mentions various breakthroughs in the agriculture field which include the growing of mature potatoes in tropical areas and the development of alternate sources of food. It also reports the plans of introducing the practice of fish farming in undernourished and underdeveloped tropical countries, by economists from the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. It states cultivation of protein rich algae by the American Medical society. Also mentioned are the experiments regarding nitrogen fixation ability of nonlegumes.
