- Authors
LYNCH, REGINALD M.
- Abstract
This article delves into the concept of sacramental character in medieval and early modern theology. It explores the development of this doctrine, particularly in relation to the writings of Augustine and the reception of his theology by Peter Lombard. The article also discusses the differing perspectives of theologians such as Aquinas, Bonaventure, Scotus, Capreolus, Cajetan, and Suárez on the nature of sacramental character. It concludes by suggesting that Aquinas and Augustine offer valuable insights into the sacramental implications of the Church's theological anthropology.
