- Abstract
The article discusses research seeking to determine the existence of longitudinal changes in global DNA methylation in individuals and to evaluate whether maintenance of methylation demonstrates familial clustering. The design and setting of the study which measured global DNA methylation by luminometric methylation assay in Icelandic individuals and individuals from Utah is detailed. The outcome measured was global methylation changes over time. The results indicate that methylation changes over time and that methylation maintenance may be under genetic control.
