- Abstract
The article reports on research which was done in an effort to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with deep vein thrombosis. Researchers used three case control studies of deep vein thrombosis which were genotyped and investigated 1,200 single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with deep vein thrombosis. The researchers found single nucleotide polymorphisms in several genes that were associated with deep vein thrombosis and single nucleotide polymorphisms in the region around the polymorphism in CP4V2 that were associated with both deep vein thrombosis and factor XI levels. They concluded that common genetic variation plays an important role in determining thrombotic risk.
