- Title
"DEAR SISTERS".
- Abstract
The article focuses on the value of publications such as "Amazon Quarterly" and "So's Your Old Lady," which were introduced in the 1970s, to the current study of queer theory. Examples of art reflecting feminine sensibility and lesbian sensibility include a description of a poster design submitted to "Dyke," which solicited offerings from its readers. Feminist artists, including Joan Semmel, Mary Beth Edelson, Bara Brown, and Carol Newhouse, celebrated the female nude. Other topics are illustrations in "Liberating Masturbation," a book by Betty Dodson, lesbian feminist activism, and visual iconography.
