- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on the management of mechanical ventilation (MV) in children in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Topics discussed include the development of lung inflammation and injury due to MV, the incidence and mortality of pediatric ARDS, and the association between hypoxemia/lung injury severity scoring and outcome for pediatric ARDS. Also noted are the potential benefits of neutrally adjusted ventilator assist (NAVA), including better oxygenation and less sedation.
