- Abstract
This article examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on care-seeking patterns for hay fever in Japan. The study used a retrospective claims database cohort to analyze changes in outpatient visits and prescriptions for hay fever during the pandemic. The findings indicate a significant decrease in care-seeking behaviors for hay fever during the COVID-19 pandemic, likely due to lifestyle changes and preventive measures implemented to minimize SARS-CoV-2 exposure. However, the study acknowledges limitations in the data and calls for further research on the effects of pollen dispersion and longer prescription durations.
