- Abstract
Aim: Video demonstration of an extraperitoneal anterior wall urinary bladder rupture. Materials and Methods: 38 year male, brought home in an inebriated state, fell off the bed at home and taken to a local hospital with lower abdominal pain and distension of Abdomen. Abdomen ultrasound showed ascites, alcoholic liver disease with borderline renal failure. Treated under gastroenterology for investigations for ascites. As part of the work up CT abdomen was done. CT abdomen showed retropubic collection with a 3 cm anterior urinary bladder wall perforation. The video shows the laparoscopic repair of this anterior wall perforation of the urinary bladder. Result: catheter was removed after 10 days. Patient voided well and renal functions returned to normal. Conclusion: A misdiagnosed case of urinary bladder perforation presenting late is challenging to repair laparoscopically. This presentation demonstrates the excellent retropubic view provided at laparoscopy for the anterior urinary bladder perforation.
