- Abstract
Optical plastics filled by nano-sized magnetic particles may have relevant applications in magneto-optics. Here, an in-situ method for the preparation of magnetic nanoparticles embedded in polystyrene by thermal decomposition of iron mercaptide is described. Transparent ferromagnetic and superparamagnetic nanocomposites have been produced using iron (II) and iron (III) mercaptides. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
