- Abstract
The geometric structure of mine-used explosion-proof integrative variable-frequency motor is not entirely symmetric,and the closed structure caused the cooling problem seriously. To solve the problem, according to the fundamental assumptions,the mathematical model of whole coupled three-dimensional fluid flow and heat transfer were established. The governing equation of fluid-flow and thermal field was coupled calculated using multiple reference frame model and finite volume method by giving corresponding boundary conditions. The performance of fluid flow,temperature field of total model,stator, rotor and converter power module,and heat transfer coefficient distribution were analyzed in detail. The calculation results show that asymmetrical geometric structure of variable-frequency motor leads to asymmetrical temperature distribution of the stator and the frame along the shaft center line , thus whole domain simulation is needed to fully understand the characteristics of temperature distribution;the highest temperature point of the variable-frequency motor is in the rotor bars,either under rated condition or 1.2 times overload condition, the highest temperature is less than the maximum permissible temperature of the insulation. The comparisons of the analysis results with test data were proposed to verify the correctness of calculation.
