The family is the first educational and social environment for all human beings. Family is the primary system in which initial socialization occurs and where behaviours of individuals are modeled. Therefore, due to the fact that its role in shaping the personality of a human being is extremely important, any irregularities in the family system have a particularly strong effect on the human being, who is an element of this system. The effects of living in a dysfunctional family also long- term character and disturb human functioning also in adulthood. System psychotherapy involves the necessity to impact the entire family system in order to improve the functioning of its particular members. The aim may be either to change the family structure, or to improve communication relationships between specific individuals. The aims of system music therapy are based on the rules of system psychotherapy, however, music therapy as a form of art therapy uses non-verbal methods, which may significantly improve the quality of therapeutic effects, as in dysfunctional families the system of communication is often strongly affected.
