- Abstract
The article focuses on the painting, entitled "On the Banks of the Nile, Upper Egypt," by British painter John Frederick Lewis. Topics discussed include the painting depicting a springtime scene in rural Egypt with a group of traveling Bedouin and their camels, the viewpoint that Lewis offers in his painting, Orientalist motifs of Lewis' art reflected in the April 2014 issue of the "Emerging Infectious Diseases," and art critic John Ruskin's alluding to the artistic mission of Lewis.
