- Title
Revealing the Incidentalome When Targeting the Tumor Genome.
- Authors
Bombard, Yvonne; Robson, Mark; Offit, Kenneth
- Abstract
The authors offer insights on the process of decoding the genome of a patient's tumor. According to the authors, this process may incidentally reveal information about inherited predispositions to cancer and other diseases. The authors suggest a need to establish approaches to decision making regarding the return of these incident results. The authors stress the importance of understanding how patients and physicians interpret and use the genomic information in measuring health outcomes.
