- Abstract
The article presents a research which aims to determine the association of public reporting for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with utilization and outcomes among Medicare beneficiaries with acute myocardial infarction (MI). It informs that the public reporting of patient outcomes is an important tool to improve quality of care. The methodology included the retrospective observational study using data from fee-for-service Medicare patients of the U.S. It is concluded that the use of PCI was lower for patients treated in three states with public reporting of PCI outcomes compared with patients treated in seven regional control states without public reporting among Medicare beneficiaries with acute Ml.
