- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the role of bolus intracoronary abciximab and manual aspiration thrombectomy in reducing infarct size in high-risk patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Suboptimal myocardial perfusion and increased infarct size resulting from STEMI are described. Bolus intracoronary abciximab was administered locally at the infarct lesion in patients within 4 hours of STEMI. A 6 F aspiration catheter was used to perform manual aspiration thrombectomy. The effectiveness of bolus intracoronary abciximab in patients with large anterior STEM who presented early symptoms is considered.
