- Abstract
The article discusses a study of cirrhosis in liver disease patients. The study used articles on the reliability and diagnostic accuracy of clinical examination for detecting cirrhosis in MEDLINE and EMBASE databases. The researchers opted for mixed effects for prevalence and its comparison. Results indicate that cirrhosis prevalence might be affected by sociodemographic and clinical factors. Also noted is the relationship between the physician's clinical impression of the disease and a high positive likelihood ratio (LR) as well as the role of the absence of hepatomegaly as the best findings for decreasing cirrhosis risk.
