- Abstract
The author informs that the five subtypes of pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) which are described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth edition (DSM-IV) will now be categorized as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in DSM-V. Also, the five subtypes of PDD include autistic disorder, Rett's disorder and childhood disintegrative disorder. Additionally, the author discusses the diagnostic and severity criteria for ASD.
