- Abstract
Cross-sectional descriptive study, aiming to analyze the driving and restraining forces for nursing teamwork in the Emergency and Urgency Care Unit of a university hospital in Goiânia, Goiás. Data was collected in 2008, with 44 nursing staff in the Emergency and Urgency Care Units, using a self applicable questionnaire, constructed from the Field Theory of Kurt Lewin, focusing on pre-defined dimensions that assess people's involvement (SELF), interaction team (OTHER) and work environment (ENVIRONMENT). Data was analyzed using thematic content. The results showed prevalence of restraining forces represented by 58.5% of total responses, especially those relating to the ENVIRONMENT dimension. In the SELF dimension the driving forces were the most frequent (41.0%) and equilibrium was found between the polarities of the OTHER dimension. The design of the force field allowed an objective view of the group limitations and potential as well, suggesting ways to promote changes.
