- Title
How Do HIV Elite Controllers Do What They Do?
- Authors
Saag, Michael; Deeks, Steven G.
- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss a study on how elite HIV controllers regulate viral reproduction. They state that elite controllers regulate the replication of HIV viruses in the lymphoid tissue. They note that the study implies that the elite controllers' CD4+ T cells are infected with HIV ex vivo and the virus are replicated competently. They affirm that the study's results reveal that cellular restriction components are not major causes of long-term nonprogression of HIV.
