Demand for malaria drug soars.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports on the Affordable Medicines Facility Malaria (AMFm) initiative implemented by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The scheme plans to cut the price of artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) using subsidies. ACTs combine artemisinin with another drug to reduce the chance of malaria parasites developing resistance, as they have done to treatments. As demand for malaria drug is increasing, farmers and scientists struggle to keep up with the needs of this AMFm initiative.
