- Abstract
The article provides information on the work of Dan Lunt at the University of Bristol in Great Britain and his colleagues which models different theories that implicate differing drivers of glaciation. It states that the closure of the Panama seaway caused a rise in the salinity gradient between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. A state-of-the-art climate model was used to stimulate ocean and a high-resolution ice-sheet model to resolve the dynamics of ice formation. Furthermore, the models produced a map of a huge Greenland ice sheet under low carbon dioxide conditions.
