- Title
Bicarbonate Utilization by Marine Phytoplankton in Photosynthesis.
- Authors

- Abstract
Evidence is given for the utilization of bicarbonate ion by the marine phytoplankton, Platymonas sp., Nitzschia closterium, and marine Chlorella sp., but Chlorella pyrenoidosa was unable to utilize this form under the experimental conditions employed. The data were obtained by utilization of the principle expressed by Dalton's law of removing molecular CO2 from the medium by purging with non-labeled compressed air or an inert gas.
