- Abstract
Absorption measurements of hydrofluorocarbons (R-134a, R-125 and R-32) and hydrofluoroolefins (R-1234yf and R-1234ze (E)) in a polyol ester oil (ISO VG 32) were performed using a gravimetric microbalance at temperatures ranging from 248.15 to 348.15 K. R-1234ze (E) is the most soluble refrigerant, while R-32 is the least soluble at given T and p. A one-dimensional diffusion equation was applied on time-dependent absorption data to determine binary diffusion coefficients (D). The observed D varies from 10-10 and 10-11 m²/s. Diffusing radius calculations support the hypothesis that all refrigerants dissolve into ISO VG 32 as individual refrigerant molecules.
