- Title
The Versatile Use of Titanium in Implant Prosthodontics.
- Authors
Renner, Achim Michael
- Abstract
The article presents several cases to demonstrate the versatile and predictable use of the Biotan titanium casting system for the fabrication of Biotan pure titanium-based restorations. Titanium was discovered by W. Gregor in the 1970s as a dioxide in a titanium-iron oxide dust. According to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards published in 1993, titanium and titanium alloys can be classified in 18 different grades. The general characteristics and the biocompatibility of this material render it useful for fabricating dental restorations.
