- Abstract
This study was to investigate the variation of body type score and reproduction system during laying period in 'White Roman ganders. A total of 69 ganders and 190 female geese in their first laying period with average age of 6 months were allotted into each cage, individually and abdominal-foot profile score (AFPS) of ganders were observed each month. The ganders were randomly sampling 8 times, 5 ganders were sacrificed by cervical dislocation. The results showed that testis short axis of the ganders in onset laying month and second, third and fourth month after laying egg were wider than those in second month before laying egg and fifth month after laying egg (19.0, 20.8, 21.4, 19.6 vs.12.7 and 14.0 mm/bird). The testis weight adjusted for feed-deprived body weight of the ganders in second and third month after laying egg were more than those in second month before laying egg and fifth month after laying egg (0.33, 0.37 vs. 0.11 and 0.19%).
