- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the Jewish voters of Los Angeles, California to the first presidential campaign race between Ulysses S. Grant and Horatio Seymour in 1868. According to the study of the Los Angeles Census of 1870, it maybe presumed that almost six percent of the Los Angeles voters to the presidential election were Jewish people. In addition, it was found out that Jews participated in the democratic campaign which showed Jewish vote was overwhelming for Seymour as the Democrat candidate.
