- Abstract
The article presents a prospective study on the epidemiology of equine gastric ulceration syndrome (EGUS) in standardbred racehorses. The study involved 102 horses that had not received anti-ulcer medication for at least two weeks, and underwent clinical examinations including body condition evaluation, rectal temperature, measurement, and cardiac and thoracic auscultation. The study shows that 58% of the horses had gastric squamous ulceration, and the remaining 44% had no ulcers.
