- Abstract
This study aims to determine which type of violence and cognitive schemas impact on the cortisol levels of women who have been victims of intimate partner violence. A translated version of the Severity of Violence Against Women Scale and the short form of the Young Schema Questionnaire were applied to a sample of 43 women. Also, for each of those women, samples of plasmatic diurnal cortisol were collected. A regression model was proposed to identify the variables that affect the cortisol levels. The results show that threats, sexual aggression, and cognitive schemas as: Abandonment, Social Isolation, Attachment, Failure to Achieve, Vulnerability to Harm, Subjugation, and Unrelenting Standards have a significative impact on the cortisol levels.
