- Authors
GOLUMBEANU, Arabella
- Abstract
In the novel "Attentat" by Amélie Nothomb, there are two characters at the center of the story who are constructed in antithesis in terms of their physical appearance, resembling Quasimodo and his Esmeralda. Through this article, we aim to analyze the novel by considering the myth of Beauty and the Beast and the influence of Jérôme Bosch's work on the construction of the characters and the narrative. We want to explore whether the myth is fulfilled and whether, in the end, the Beast transforms into the prince charming with the help of his beloved the Beauty.
