- Abstract
Sexual dysfunction is defined as a disturbance in one or more aspects of the sexual response cycle or as pain associated with sexual intercourse. Sexual dysfunction is common both in men and women although its prevalance changes with age. Considering its relation with other diseases and medical treatments, ethical and legal aspects, primary care phsycians should know the technique of taking sexual history, be able to do differential diagnosis and to give counselling to sexual dysfunctions or problems related to misbeliefs or lack of education and refer to the specialist appropriately. This review, aimes to outline main terms related to sexual dysfunctions and general approach in primary health care.
