- Abstract
The coherent lance was the core O2 supplement device in the electrical arc furnace steelmaking process to improve the oxygen utilization rate and molten bath mixing efficiency. For reducing the natural gas dependence and widening the application extent of renewable energy, the effect of H2 on the coherent jet flow field has been investigated by both numerical simulation and combustion experiment, and the axial velocity and total temperature have been measured in the experimental test to verify the reliability of simulation result. The result presented the velocity potential core length of main oxygen jet could be further prolonged by the 818-H2 supplement method at the same heat value of fuel shrouding gas condition, comparing with 250-CH4 supplement method. However, because of a bigger H2 flow and combustion rate for 818-H2 supplement method, the region area of shrouding flame was improved in both axial and radial direction, resulting in a lower heat utilization of fuel shrouding gas. Besides, comparing with the 250-CH4 supplement method, the impaction depth and diameter would be smaller with the same flow rate of fuel shrouding gas for 250-H2 supplement method, but bigger with the same heat value of fuel shrouding gas for 818-H2 supplement method.
