- Abstract
The article presents the study which aims to examine the influence of intimate partner violence (IPV) on antiretroviral medication adherence. The study which was consisted of a group-based intervention and a randomized trial has recruited 145 HIV seroconcordant and serodisconcordant heterosexual couples from Miami, Florida. Results showed that there are no significant differences in medication adherence rates between women and men. It further suggests the importance of encouraging men and women to use more adaptive coping strategies which are related with reduced IPV among women.
